Welcome to the Modern Foreign Languages Department
We strongly believe that students of all abilities should be given the opportunity to learn a foreign language, and that skills learnt and practised in languages lessons have an impact on daily life for everyone.
Studying French or German at Wollaston School will help young people to:
- become aware of themselves as citizens of the world, as well as in their own immediate environment and society
- develop listening, concentration and social skills through partnership and group work, and thus enhance self-esteem
- appreciate the importance of communication skills in the modern world of work.
The faculty has four main teaching rooms, a dedicated ICT suite and a Sixth Form Languages media suite with access to European satellite TV channels. There is a dedicated Speaking Room where students can work with French and German Assistants, who are native speakers.
